There are several reissues in my bookcase of Miroslav Sasek's wonderful series'This is Paris', This is London', etc.
Sasek (1916-1980) made the first of these books in my birthyear, 1959, and ofcourse part of the attraction of his illustrations lies in nostalgia, and the whole retro-vibe at the moment, but they are also just very well done!
I am in awe of the apparent ease with which he drew cars and other technical subjects, and gave them the same cosy appearance as his people and animals.
I enjoy his work immensely!
