Monday hero: William Turner

I spent the last days of 2016 on the island of Terschelling, where I often was reminded of the work of Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851)

No-one portrayed stormy skies and seas the way he could.

Turner is perhaps best known for big oil paintings, but I much prefer his smaller 'studies' in watercolour, like the examples above..
