Monday hero: James Abbott McNeill Whistler

If there is anyone that can make the most beautiful travel sketches, it has to be the American artist Whistler(1834-1903). I would love to be as good as this.

Above some of the pastels he made of Venice.

Whistler made not only pastels, but etchings and paintings as well.

Although born in America, Whistler lived and worked most of his life in Europe, where he moved in 1855, and stayed till he died.

He worked mostly in London and Paris, but in Amsterdam and Venice too.

Whistler is considered a forerunner of abstract art, as he didn't paint lifelike or naturalisticaly.
