Monday hero: Júlia Sardà

These are illustrations by the Spanish illustrator Júlia Sardà, who lives and works in Barcelona.

Sardà started work after her studies as a colorist for firms like Pixar and Disney, but nowadays mostly does children's books.

I love her 'flat' illustrations on a white background, like little theatres.

I like to work like that myself.

But then she can also work in a much more elaborate, 'cinematic' style, like in the scenes from Thomas Hardy's The withered arm. Wow!
